The ECCO Walk in Style Award, first announced in 2008, was conceived in order to increase awareness of issues facing some of the world’s most vulnerable women. On January 31, 2012 yet another courageous woman will win the main prize of €33,500, which she can donate to the charity of her choice to improve other women’s quality of life. The five other nominees will receive €1,300 for their projects.

Child Rights and You is an Indian non-governmental charity organization supporting underprivileged children in states in India by restoring their rights. Rights we expect being a civil right in most other countries are not in place in India. 10,000 children die every single day in India. More than in any tsunami, flood, earthquake, famine or war. Half of India’s children are deprived of their fundamental right to education every day. Two million Indian babies die each year before they celebrate their first birthday.
