Yesterday I gave my face to Plans girl campaign and performed my song Change live at VGTV. I’ve done Change like a hundred times now so I usually don’t get nervous, but this particular morning I was. I just felt my heart beating harder and harder. It felt like it would jump out of my chest. If you didn’t watch it live you can check it out here

Now I know why I felt this way! After reading about plans status reports on girls current situation all around the world you can’t help but feel outraged and frustrated. It’ s 2009 and girls should have equal rights! Some of the experiences shared by young girls that have been interviewed and the statistics show that we are not doing enough to change this. Plans campaign is one way you can help spread awareness about their situation and show the authorities around the world that we’re not willing to except this.

I’m starting with the girl in the mirror. When I was a teenager I used to feel a bit ashamed if someone would mention girls situation in India. I would be afraid that people would think that this was how every Indian was brought up to think, and  that is not true!  Today I’m stronger and smarter, and I know that this is a bad mentality we can change, by refusing to except these wrong ideals causing these cruel and desprate actions around the world.
